Even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon the backyard vibes and atmosphere did not disappoint. Those boys can make a good Reuben sandwich and they were definitely busy slanging out sandwiches. You can't rush quality service and friendly staff.

This is a great sandwich shop! It's definitely an experience with the arcade games and the cool patio! The guys who work there are super nice and out going! The only thing is it's a little expensive we got 2 sodas and 2 sandwiches, it was over $50! But definitely fun vibes and good food!

Best Reuben Sandwich I've had in as long as I can remember. Combine that with excellent service and laid back vibes and you have a spot I'll come back to repeatedly. The rest of the menu looks great too, but damn I want that Reuben again. Colby is genuinely friendly and cares about your experience. He takes pride in what he does and it's obvious. Fun place to hang out while waiting for the food too. There's an old school Capcom arcade game to play, or mess around and work on your mini golf game. There's also another shared grassy space in the back. I believe there was a coffee shop and a wine bar back there. Yoga was going on when I passed by. Just overall a friendly, relaxed community vibe with some great food to enjoy. Be back soon.

Top tier sandwich, service, and vibes! We split the tri tip sandwich which was incredible. The people working there are very kind and have an adorable dog. Wine and coffee bar in the back is cute too. Would return for sure!

We got super lucky where we were fortunate enough to visit them on their last working day before they jet off on their holiday break. The 2 guys working at the shop were super friendly and we got to chatting about how they'll be back in Jan so check in on their socials to confirm when they'll be open again! I tried the tri tip tubular and the first thing I noticed was how MASSIVE the sandwiches were. It's a proper footlong with generous portions of their tri tip. I liked the arugula and Marvs horseradish which helped brighten the sandwich. This is definitely a must try if you like tri tip and big portions. They were already soldout of some sandwiches by mid-afternoon so I recommend if you have something specific you want to try, call ahead or get there earlier. Another thing to note is that they make the sandwiches fresh to order once you're there in-person and not ahead the way it was intended so don't come here if you're looking for something too quick. They definitely put a lot of love into the sandwich making! The shop is inside a house tucked inside a cute shared, outdoor patio space where you can also pair your sandwich with coffee or wine, and shop for clothes and jewelry all in the same space. Parking can be challenging but well worth the visit.

Starvin' Marvin's is a new sandwich shop operating out of a converted residence in the North PB neighborhood. The marker on its Yelp listing is not accurate as the business is about a block south near the corner of La Jolla Blvd and Wrelton Dr. The best bet is to find a curbside spot on the boulevard and walk over. The enclosed front patio had a few high top tables if you wanted to dine al fresco. There was definitely a surfer vibe to the place. Six sandwiches, seven flatbreads, and two salads made up the menu from Chef Colby. The first listed sandwich (Marv's Tubular Tri Tip) was my choice. A crisped French roll was filled with roasted tri-tip, melted pepper jack cheese, and horseradish topped with arugula, onion, and balsamic vinaigrette. The meat was almost completely covered by the arugula. I wouldn't have guessed the cut was tri-tip because it looked and tasted more like braised beef pulled into shreds. The flavor combination was sharp with the peppery nature of arugula and the pungency of the horseradish. The sandwiches ranged in price from $15 to $19 while the flatbreads were similar between $16 and $19. I believe there was a discount offered on Wednesdays for the flatbreads. For the quality and price of my sandwich, I gave a four star rating for my experience at Starvin' Marvin's.

"Big Sandwich" corp doesn't want you to know about Starvin' Marvin's. Place is incredible, easily the best sandwich in PB/Ja Jolla.
